SATANIC PRIEST
…Of Blasphemies & Lust!

As if Hell isn’t full enough, one can now add these El Salvador lunatics to the pile. With their debut album, the freaky foursome of Priest Of Whores (vocals), Sadomaniac (guitar), Bïer Bömber (bass) and Necroblaster (drums) doesn’t just set out to wake the neighbours but sacrifice them to the dark lord too.
After a short intro, ‘Don’t Burn The Witch’ comes hammering out of the caverns like a demented flutter of rabid bats. Propelled by the whiplash of the drums and the dehydrated gasps, this is very much striking black thrash coated in toxic layers of deathly soot. Necroblaster is such a formidable beast on those skin slaps, literally sounding as if Lucifer himself is pacing down the fiery halls on those hairy hooves.
‘Succubus’, ‘Lust & Alcohol’ and ‘Metal Attack’ stink of black leather and channelling old, archaic Teutonic and South American forces with slick, sniping axe work that cuts to the bone. However, this is not your average unholy speed metal feast, the band members – who also feature for Apes Of God – construct all manner of slick melodies that snake through the blackness.
Streaks of black boozy humour can be found within the cloying mists of the album, for example ‘Good Beer, Good Times’ is an absolute riot. However, these guys know how to deliver a riff; ‘Hate, Suffering And Power’ is blessed with a truly evil tone. But much of what’s served up here is thrashy as Satanic Priest creates a mish mash of Venom, Sodom, Bulldozer and whisky, although with more sniping focus.
…Of Blasphemies & Lust! only runs for 25 minutes but it’s such a devilish frenzy of fun and ferocity, epitomised by the blitzkrieg of ‘Through Lucifer’s Lands’ and the equally belligerent ‘The Rise Of Satan’, which begins like old Slayer except for the rusty vocals. This is music for graveyard dwellers and Devil disciples everywhere, so hop on over to Vicious Witch Records and support the underground.
