Former TROUBLE And ZOETROPE Drummer Barry Stern Dies Aged 45

Barry Stern, formerly of Illinois-based metal groups Trouble and Zoetrope, passed away on April 1st, 2005 at the age of 45.
Stern played drums and sang on the inaugural two Zoetrope full-lengths, namely Amnesty (1985) and A Life Of Crime (1987). He ultimately left them to join Trouble prior to the recording of their 1990 self-titled outing, also appearing on 1992 follow-up effort Manic Frustration.
Trouble issued the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Barry Stern on Friday morning (April 1). Our hearts and prayers go out to all his family and friends today. We remember all the good times we had together and come to know that they are priceless all we can say is that we love you and miss you and one day we will jam together again. Rest in peace.”
Meanwhile, Trouble guitarist Rick Wartell shared the following additional words: “This is sad news for the music world. I would like to send condolences to Barry’s family and friends. We will think of you, and one day we will jam together again. RIP, brother.”
A chapel service for Stern was held on Tuesday, April 5th at 1pm at Shalom Memorial Park, Beth Shearim Chapel, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights, Illinois. He was survived by mother Louise, brother Arlen and sister Karen.
