SAXON Release 22nd Studio Album ‘Thunderbolt’
February 2nd, 2018

Yorkshire, England-based heavy metal group Saxon issued 22nd full-length studio album Thunderbolt on February 2nd, 2018 through Militia Guard, an imprint of Silver Lining Music.
Thunderbolt was made available in the following formats: digipak CD, 180gm coloured vinyl in gatefold sleeve, special edition boxset, cassette tape and digital download.
The outing features a tribute composition to late Motörhead frontman Lemmy, entitled ‘They Played Rock And Roll’. “There’s not much to tell, really,” frontman Biff Byford told Metal Forces in an October 2016 interview feature. “It’s a song about that tour, the 1979 tour basically. I asked Nibbs (Carter, bass) to write a song that was similar in style to Motörhead, which he did. He wrote the guitar riffs and everything, and I put lyrics to it that I had already written. So, it was a pretty easy song for us to do.”
Amon Amarth frontman Johan Hegg contibutes guest vocals on the track ‘Predator’.
Thunderbolt was produced, engineered and mixed by Andy Sneap at Backstage Recording Studio in Derbyshire, England.
Cover artwork was created by long-time Saxon collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.
The track listing is as follows:
