Telomyras EP

What a nice little surprise this five-song EP is. This quintet hails from Seattle, Washington and after two demo releases – which I’ve not heard – they have caught my attention with this fiery little number. It was the opening track ‘Cambion’ which initially grabbed my interest with its molten axe work and the impressive and clear vocals of Sammie Gorham.
This is straight up heavy metal that is atmospheric and melodic, although it could benefit from better production at times just to add extra punch to the dynamics. Even so, it remains a tidy EP that has an old school charm about its contours as tracks such as ‘Throne Of Ruin’ and the aforementioned ‘Cambion’ are executed in tidy fashion. The strong gallop of ‘Hydra’ suggests a band with good ideas and melodies which channel a New Wave Of British Heavy Metal theme, and with work there is potential here for Telomyras to craft a solid career.
Naturally with such an unsigned band there are tweaks to be made, but with that brooding cover artwork and pure metal heart this record is sure to make its mark.
