DEADWOLFF
Heavy Rock N’ Roll

The latest denim clad 80s metal worshippers to take to the smoking stage is Toronto, Ontario-based rockers Deadwolff. Heavy Rock N’ Roll is the band’s debut full-length offering and in spite of its reckless and raw nature this is one hell of a punky opus that brims with attitude. Thomas Wolffe’s drunken drool and equally sloppy bass tone provides so much charm, as does percussive maniac Angus Pike and axe man Bobby Deuce.
Heavy Rock N’ Roll is simply a rebellious outing played for fun as the stark yet infectious title track charges in. The guys offer up a primitive, and almost garage-style of hard rock that is loose n’ lethal throughout. The choruses are unpretentious in design, whether in the form of mid-tempo rocker ‘Homeward Bound’, the slightly more aggressive ‘Walking On Nails’ and head thumper ‘Six To Midnight’.
This is probably not the sort of record that will garner too much attention if I’m honest. Sure, it’s heart is very much entrenched in the underground and however gnarly and riotous it gets it remains understated, but as ‘Gang Wracks’ snarls and ‘Locked And Loaded’ buzzes with oily aplomb, one can only rage along until the sweat pools form on the floor.
Deadwolff provide a good rockin’ time with a debut that offers no frills, just good ol’ fashioned blood, sweat and alcohol.
