DEMON MÖRDER

Arguably one of the most vicious albums you’ll hear this year, the debut release from this American outfit is one I’ve been eagerly anticipating. And right from the off it’s a storming, scathing opus boasting ten snaps of black / thrash metal aggression and rarely does it let up.
I know very little about this volatile horde and I’m all the more glad for it, preferring to merely stand at the door of the beckoning cover art and be slapped in the face by the venomous sound contained.
Opener ‘A Night For The Infernal Shroud’ is a whirlwind of zipping thrash, bleeding into the equally frantic ‘Birth of the Septic Eon’ with its chaotic streaks of Teutonic mayhem. The vocals are harsh snaps matched by the whizzing fury of the percussion.
‘Beyond The Gates Of Evil’ is vicious, foaming and gnashing, tearing at the flesh with its manic bass lines and howling axe work. It’s not overtly complex, just overwhelming in its speed as classic Slayer fuses with Sodom, Kreator, Destruction et al.
The grating riffage of ‘Vicious Iron Grinding Nihility’ is another prime example of such speeding terror, as is the racing menace of ‘Black Magic Extermination’ for further cataclysmic caterwhauling. In fact, everything about this record exudes a sinister guise, with endless bursts of brain-pulverizing speed daubed in satanic slashing.
‘…And Sabbath Never Came’ comes with nasty, punky bass tone before the cut unravels as a jarring yet melodious techdeath structure. And closer ‘Altar Of Pestilence’ just confirms my belief that these guys are just rabid engineers of evil, scurrying like demonic rats, sniping, nipping and frenzidly gnawing away at your sinews with a brand of horrific thrash you’ll be keen to escape from.
