MURDERSOME
Carnal Death

Richmond, Virginia-based thrashers Murdersome are an interesting beast, so don’t be put off by the generic cover art of this debut full-length. I really thought the relentless vocal snaps would irritate, coupled with the often deathly barks, but this is actually decent, memorable thrash that at times rushes belligerently like Accept on speed!
These guys fuse hard, metallic chugs with pace but the tracks immediately embed themselves into the brain; ‘Revel In Darkness’ is an absolute corker with its hostile vocals and wild solos. ‘Credulous’ and ‘Smoke And Mirrors’ are as equally volatile, rampaging yet crisp guitar tones and hectic percussion.
There are occasional drifts towards a crossover slant but everything is kept short and sharp with ‘Nights Edge’ boasting the most nostalgic themes with its fiery riffs. The brief ‘No Way Out’, complete with gang chants, and the equally snappy ‘Housing The Wretched’ epitomize the capabilities of this band – supercharged and aggressive thrash delivered like a bullet to the skull. Yes, there are moments of predictability, but it’s all over so quick that you don’t get a chance to not comply with its raging.
