I’m still recovering from listening this opus full blast, and realise I was a fool to crank up the volume so high. But, if you’re brave enough to withstand some of the most violent, thrashing fastest grind obscenity, then you need this album in your life.
For those who’ve yet to be sonically murdered by this wretched band, The Kill are an Australian gang which has existed since 2000. Over the years, The Kill has been involved in several split projects, and then in 2012 released its full-length debut Make ’Em Suffer.
All I can really say about this destructive cluster of reprobates is that they play really hurtful and ultra-fast violent thrash / grind that is channelled through a veritable feast of two-minute brain pulverisers which are made all the more furious by the astonishing vocal barrages of Nik. To say that this band doesn’t hold back is an understatement; I find the whole racket rather entertaining, and yet couldn’t imagine such a frenzied attack live – surely the stage would collapse and the fans would be resorted to mulch after their craniums had exploded.
Kill Them …All offers up 19 blasts of anger, fury and speeding insults with nary a tune in sight, but I’m sure if you remain patient enough you’ll find a few extreme melodies within this frightening expression of violence. To put it simply, The Kill is just one ferocious band serving up some of the fastest extreme metal I’ve heard over the last century. How on earth skin thrasher Jay manages to hammer out such apocalyptic blasts is beyond me, and I’d love to see the fingers of guitarist Roby just to make sure he actually has any left.
And so the songs come thick and very, very fast – the longest being opener ‘Insults’ which, through its chaos, is actually quite humorous lyrically as Nik vomits such poetic masterpieces as “You fucking dog, Ratbastard, Dirty weasel, Low-life snake, Filthy pig, Fucking dog cunt, Fucking pig scum”.
So, after working his way through a bestial tapestry of hate the band comes pummelling again with the snippet ‘Instant Fighter’, which seems to make fun of muscle-bound gym freaks amidst a blitzkrieg of raging guitars and thrashing primal drums. And that’s pretty much the theme throughout; utter chaos in the musical department and violent shouts on the vocal front, and some funny lyrics splattered all over the shop.
‘Heavy Metal Professional’, ‘Holiday’s Over’, ‘Public Execution’, ‘Evil Dead’ etc., etc. all hint at that foaming hardcore punk sadism and with varying topics coating Nik’s venomous tongue and even a sped up version of Anthrax’s ‘Metal Thrashing Mad’, The Kill’s latest lesson in anger mismanagement is a simple joy of playing fast and digging tongue firmly in cheek. Twenty-seven minutes has never been so audibly painful!
