TOTAL HELL
Killed By Evil

Self-released (2024)
Rating: 7/10

Only two words are required to describe the alcohol-infused blasphemy that is Total Hell, and that’s “Venom” and “Bathory”. The homage here is clear to hear as this New Orleans, Louisiana-based cult worships at a rusty altar constructed of bones, chains and blood.

Like some demonic clan perched on devilish motorcycles, Total Hell speed from the depths, ploughing through plumes of thick smoke and choking out a variety of commands under titles like ‘Satanic Fist’, ‘Nuclear Satanic Warfare’ and ‘Demonized’. The title cut is about as Venom as it gets; an acidic gallop through Hades led by the spitted vocals and clanking bass and drums. Total Hell are that stubborn speed metal mob that revels in its own primitive demonstrations – a cloying soot-caked arena stinking of sulphur and wailing with black winds.

The album drips with a punk attitude as ‘Satanic Fist’ bounds into view, cast from the flames and spewing oily menace in its brash thrash vigour. You won’t find much variety among the smoking debris, but you will find a furnace of billowing black riffs as ‘Turn The Cross’, ‘Unholy Liar’ and the Motörhead-styled ‘Forgotten Son Of Darkness’ charge headlong like Satan’s minions, wading through beery waters and toxic flooding.

There’s fun and frolicking to be had here in this Hellfire Club of blasphemous cheese; so anoint with such sinful tirades or forever burn.
