SAVAGE THRUST
Demo Of Doom (1985)
|
Formed in 1984, Staten Island, New York-based Savage Thrust actually admit that the reason they were formed was “to cash in on the current trend of Priest and Maiden imitators grabbing the big bucks”.
Well, with that dream shattered, you may be pleased to know that they don’t sound like either Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. Instead, the band opt for a more modern speed metal sound in the Anthrax and early Metallica mould. Nothing new in that you may say, but Savage Thrust are still developing their style and come up with some interesting, if not exactly brilliant, song structures on their four-track Demo Of Doom tape.
At the moment the band offer more potential for the future than actually delivering the goods at present, but Savage Thrust are still worth investigating further.
