DELIVER THE SUFFERING
Unleash The Chaos EP

Self-released (2024)
Rating: 8/10

Here’s a snarling French thrash five-piece hell-bent on delivering fatal airstrikes alongside pulverising ground n’ pound. Led by the sneering vocals of Manu Dal-Grande, the Toulouse act takes no prisoners with its weaponry as five hostile nukes are prepared in the form of ‘The Devil In Me’, ‘Unleash Your Chaos’, ‘Self Abuse’, ‘This Is War’ and ‘It’s All Fake’.

If you like the sort of scathing metal bands like Nervosa deliver then this EP will appeal, with crisp, melodic yet sniping axe work, clear rumbling bass and rapid percussion. What more could you want? The band aren’t afraid to slow down either as exhibited in moments of the opening song ‘The Devil In Me’, but for a majority of the time the thrash is scowling and aggressive.

The double team axework of Nicolas Bellecoste and Vincent Bigaillon is what makes this opus that extra ferocious alongside the battering drums of Boris Dupré. Even the groovier passages sneer with a menace and hostility; the title track is just deadly in its infectious tempo shift and ‘It’s All Fake’ is an in-your-face assault of the highest velocity. Dal-Grande is a voracious performer, plying her trade with such throaty gasps of dehydrated horror and spite, and “spite” is the key word here.

Deliver The Suffering live up to their moniker and I hope these guys get the attention they deserve.
