I have a major issue with these Tokyo goremongers in that all of their releases are so damn short, and this new EP, Buzzsaw Sickness, is no exception with a total duration of under three-minutes!
There’s five tracks on offer here, with the closer being a cover of Rot’s ‘Life Is Not So Kind’. Before that you get ‘Generator’, ‘Stomach Churner’, ‘Chemical Plant’ and ‘Dismal’.
All tracks are delivered with that Swedish death metal worshipping guitar sound which Mortify spends all of its minutes paying homage to, but for me it’s the vocals which really deliver.
Nasty, slurping, spitting bile takes ‘Generator’ into the realms of depravity, while ‘Stomach Churner’ is equally fetid with its bathtub banging and so on, and so on.
It’s a shame though that these lunatics can’t just churn out a 30-minute album with a hundred songs, because when I purchase these fleeting outbursts I feel a bit hard done by. This is brief yet battering death metal for those with little attention span.
