SINNER’S TABLE
Rituals Of Torment EP

Self-released (2024)
Rating: 6.5/10

A rather short EP this one as Hudson Valley, New York-based duo Sinner’s Table improve on their 2022 demo with four strong cuts. With opener ‘Forged In Flame’ there’s a heavy snarling attitude as members Robert Müller and Dennis O’Neil drift towards a crossover into death metal alongside some abrasive and cold cavernous abyssal Godflesh gasping after the initial hammering.

There are also a lot of hardcore streaks stirred within this violent assault too, more so with the territorial barks. ‘Serpent’s Grasp’ continues the streetcore attitude, the drums bludgeon and lead the barbaric charge amidst the flurry of urban thrash riffs. There are injections of dark melody which provide respite from the verbal atrocities; ‘Serpent’s Grasp’ is a good example of how a more traditional solo slips into a realm of rage.

Next up is the title track, a venomous thrash escapade with sneering vocals and hardcore riffs. Everything Sinner’s Table churns out is robust and confrontational – a furious marrying of urban toughness. Final track ‘Chopping Block’ is a tirade of machine gun riffs and vocal punches. As the track breaks down there are those slower mosh-lined chugs capping off quite the bruising display of masculinity and crossover.
