Sounding like he’s still chewing on the rabbit he stole from the neighbour’s garden, Tortured Corpse vocalist Agressor has an interesting style to his chomping slurps which lead this debut EP. This Polish combo is a new band on the block and they are responsible for catchy death metal which isn’t afraid to provide faster, chunkier blasts.
Rites Of Putridity And Death runs for 26 minutes and it’s quite a rewarding experience throughout the six tracks on offer. To an extent there is a mid-90s feel while there are occasional primitive drifts towards earlier tones. Influences are aplenty, but that’s expected with many of today’s acts although Agressor’s nasty vocals certainly add further rough textures to this surging beast of an opus.
For the most part you get speedy dynamics (‘Burial Mounds’) mixed with some deadly mid-tempo labours (‘Rites Of Putridity And Death’), so there is enough of everything here to please everyone with a penchant for hideous death metal. Solid stuff indeed.
