Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth have released a music video for the track ‘Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha’, which can be viewed below.
Speaking about the song and video, frontman Adam ‘Nergal’ Darski commented: “‘Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha’ is the final piece of the puzzle to complete the ‘ILYAYD’ [October 2018 album I Loved You At Your Darkest] cycle. An amazing album campaign for Behemoth, and this is its grand send off!
“Once again, we collaborated with Grupa 13 and created a very cinematic script and vision. There are numerous references linking this new video and our previous videos for ‘God = Dog’ and other ‘ILYAYD’ videos. It’s all high-end, unseen footage and has a cool and intriguing story running through it.”
Behemoth issued four-song EP A Forest on May 29th, 2020 through the band’s own New Aeon Musick label. The outing was made available in various formats and can be purchased here.
The cover rendition of The Cure’s ‘A Forest’ features guest vocals from Shining frontman Niklas Kvarforth. The EP also includes a live version of the title track recorded at Progresja in Warsaw, Poland on December 14th, 2018, as well as two previously unreleased Behemoth songs recorded during the I Loved You At Your Darkest album sessions.
Adam ‘Nergal’ Darski commented: “Covering music outside of metal is a challenge – covering legendary music is an even greater challenge… that is what drove us throughout this process. A lot of bands try it and a lot of bands fail; subjectively, I love the outcome and it [‘A Forest’] ranks amongst my favourite Behemoth covers alongside Killing Joke’s ‘Total Invasion’ and Siekiera’s ‘Ludzie Wschodu’.
“For the second time in 2020, I’ve recruited Niklas Kvarforth from Shining. Niklas’ psychotic appearance, attitude and vibe was a key element to our representation of the music and the only man who could give the performance the same depth as the original.
“On top of this, the A Forest EP contains two brand new Behemoth songs, ‘Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha’ and ‘Evoe’. The tracks act as a continuation on from I Loved You At Your Darkest – no more, no less. We hope this brings some respite for anyone struggling during these strange times on our planet! Stay safe, stay positive, Hail Satan!”
