CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Joined By CONVERGE Bassist Nate Newton
December 31st, 2013
Cavalera Conspiracy, the heavy metal group spearheaded by brothers and founding Sepultura members Max and Igor Cavalera, recruited Converge’s Nate Newton as its bassist, revealing this development on December 31st, 2013.
Newton issued the following statement: “Yes, I am playing bass on the new Cavalera Conspiracy record. No… I am not going to leave Converge. I thought it would be fun to play with the guys who wrote some of my favourite metal records. That’s all… No big story here other than it’s pretty awesome when people whose music you’ve admired for years ask you to be a part of it with them. I’m honoured!”
Johny Chow, who had toured and recorded with Cavalera Conspiracy for several years, joined Stone Sour in 2012 as its touring bassist. Soulfly’s Tony Campos (ex-Static-X) occupied bass during Cavalera Conspiracy’s tour of South America and Mexico.
Earlier in December 2013, Cavalera Conspiracy inked a record contract with Napalm Records. Previous label Roadrunner released the albums Inflikted (2008) and Blunt Force Trauma (2011).
