Polish death metal band Decapitated have filmed a music video for the track ‘Iconoclast’. Directed by Marcin Halerz and featuring guest vocals from Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn, the clip can be viewed below.
Speaking about the song and video, guitarist Wacław ‘Vogg’ Kiełtyka said: “For this occasion, we returned to the studio where all had started, where we recorded drums for the album, to feel an incredible energy and cool vibes again, while making the video.
“As you probably know, we have an exceptional guest, the metal legend and friend of ours, one and only Robb Flynn. His part of the track became one of my favourite parts of this album.
“It’s a huge honour to have Robb in this project, and I hope you will dig a song. It’s a different song, not blasting madness as most of the songs on this record but still powerful, fast, and crushing.”
Robb Flynn added: “When Vogg asked me to sing on this Decapitated track, I was honoured to jam with pioneers and such insane musicians.
“When he sent the track I was blown away at this incredible melodic section in the middle. When he told me the song was called ‘Iconoclast’, I knew exactly what needed to be said. An Iconoclast is ‘a destroyer of images used in religious worship’.
“This song had to address the hateful, growing fascist Evangelical movement growing around the world. The cruel men who wish to hide their cruelty under a cloak of faith and zealotry.”
Decapitated issued eighth full-length studio album Cancer Culture on May 27th, 2022 through Nuclear Blast Records.
Wacław ‘Vogg’ Kiełtyka commented: “Finally, after so many months of waiting, we reached it. The expectations were high, and we also gave ourselves a massive challenge with this album. But I think hard work pays off. We had an opportunity to gather amazing people who took care of the production and helped us deliver the best we could with this album.
“Again, Jarek Szubrycht (Carnival Is Forever, 2011) has written amazing lyrics for us about the disproportion between the dreams, ambitions, and aspirations of humanity. The leading engineer on the album was Tomasz Zed Zalewski (Anticult, 2017), David Castillo, responsible for mixing the album, and Ten Jensen for the final touch for mastering.
“For the cover, for the first time, we worked with Fabio Timpanaro, an Italian artist whose art perfectly describes what we wanted to tell through visual art.
“Don’t misinterpret the meaning of the album title. It has a much broader context. You will be surprised at what we have delivered this time.”
The song ‘Hello Death’ features guest vocals from Jinjer singer Tatiana Shmayluk, while Machine Head frontman contributes guest vocals to the track ‘Iconoclast’.
