DRAGONLORD Unveil Music Video For New Song ‘Northlanders’
August 22nd, 2018

Eric Peterson

San Francisco, California-based black metal group Dragonlord – featuring Testament guitarist Eric Peterson – have released a music video for the track ‘Northlanders’. Edited by Jan Yrlund and featuring hand-drawn art depicting the lyrical content of the track by Christian Sloan Hall, the clip can be viewed below.

Eric Peterson commented: “This is one of the first songs I wrote for the Dominion album, way back when the History Channel first put out Vikings, which it’s clearly inspired by. While I wish I had a Vikings-level budget for this music video, I actually love how this video came out because it encompasses what black metal is all about — grit and straightforward rawness!”

Dragonlord issue third full-length studio album Dominion on September 21st, 2018 through Spinefarm Records.

Dominion was recorded at Trident Studios near Peterson’s northern California home, taking roughly four years to complete, between Testament tours and albums. Peterson produced Dominion with assistance from engineer and mixer Juan Urteaga. Mastering was handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

Dominion explores themes of darkness owning and influencing these times we now live in, and things that have come to pass. It also delves into other eras, real and imagined. ’The Northlanders’ is about brutal 11th century Northmen for example, while ’The Discord Of Melkor’ is Peterson’s take on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. A duet with Celtic vocalist Leah, ’Love Of The Damned’ is an abstract piece which explores a love story with the Devil.

Cover artwork duties fell to Eliran Kantor.
