Hard rock vocalist Graham Bonnet issues authorised biography Graham Bonnet: The Story Behind The Shades in March 2016 through Easy On The Eye Books.
The tome was written in collaboration with author Steve Wright, responsible for helming the singer’s fanzine. Wright was granted access to Bonnet’s own archive as well as friends and family.
In addition to a standard edition, a limited edition signed by Graham Bonnet including a CD of rare material as well as a unique cover design will be released.
Bonnet was born in Skegness, England in 1947. As part of The Marbles, the singer charted at position five on the UK singles chart with the track ‘Only One Woman’. A self-titled solo album arrived in 1977, replacing Ronnie James Dio as the frontman of hard rock ensemble Rainbow in 1979. Down To Earth emerged in July of that year, spawning the singles ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ and ‘All Night Long’. Rainbow appeared at Donington’s Monsters Of Rock festival in 1980, although Bonnet exited the fold in the following year.
A stint with the Michael Schenker Group resulted in the 1982 record Assault Attack, but was short-lived.
Bonnet formed Alcatrazz in 1983, who recorded the albums No Parole From Rock ‘N’ Roll (1983), Disturbing The Peace (1985), and Dangerous Games (1986). Since that time, Bonnet continues to record and tour.
