UK blackened death metal group Hecate Enthroned have released an official lyric video for the track ‘Erebus And Terror’. Featuring guest vocals from Sarah Jezebel Deva, the clip can be viewed below.
Speaking about the song, bassist Dylan Hughes stated: “On an album full of epic tracks, ‘Erebus And Terror’ still stands out as a monster. Massive and powerful, it creeps between eerie dark chills and huge powerhouse sections that utilize the full armory of soaring orchestras and crushing guitars to deliver a skillfully-crafted song. With the incredible vocal talents of Sarah Jezebel Deva, this track is lifted to another level of emotion and feeling, as she delivered a performance that matches the intensity of the music. To have Sarah with us gives our music and writing another dimension – a real organic element that can lift or carry a song through the emotion ranges.”
Vocalist Joe Stamps added: “‘Erebus And Terror’ is about the ill-fated Franklin Expedition, in which the sailors who were stranded in the Northwest Passage were reported to have begun to cannibalize one another. The lyrics describe a loss of humanity through sickness and desperation and even compares these to lycanthropy – men becoming beasts.”
Hecate Enthroned issued sixth full-length studio album Embrace Of The Godless Aeon on January 25th, 2019 through M-Theory Audio.
Embrace Of The Godless Aeon marks the debut of vocalist Joe Stamps, who joined Hecate Enthroned in 2015. Co-produced by Dan Abela, the effort additionally features guest vocals on three tracks by Sarah Jezebel Deva (ex-Cradle Of Filth).
Dylan Hughes commented: “This album with its epic sweeping orchestration and heavy aggression represents a new chapter for us cementing the chemistry of the current lineup and our partnership with M-Theory. A welcome return from Sarah Jezebel Deva hints to the grandiose flavour of earlier releases, but this time, it’s tempered with a guitar and drum sound forged from solid steel and then edged by a razor-sharp production from Dan Abela. The summoning of unholy flame and terror that is the cover art is an oil painting commissioned from in-demand satanic artist Nestor Avalos and begins your visceral journey through cold bleak landscapes, crushing tormented seas and searing shards of heavy metal.”

A music video was filmed for the track ‘Revelations In Autumn Flame’, which can also be viewed below. Portions of the clip were shot during the group’s recent performance at the Tabernacle Chapel in Llandudno, North Wales.
“Where better to shoot this video than in a chapel during a dark cold December in North Wales?” Dylan Hughes stated. “The show was set up on the pulpit in front of pews filled with a congregation of metal-fueled blasphemers, their breath visible in the cold, dank air. The atmosphere created the malevolent and darkly energetic performance caught in the video, recorded by our good friend Dan Cookson and edited by Jeff Grindstopher of Grindstopher Productions. Watch closely throughout for the ongoing threat from the enveloping icy embrace of Cthulhu.”
An official lyric video was created for the song ‘Temples That Breathe’, which can also be viewed below.
Fifth studio record Virulent Rapture was released in November 2013 via Crank Music Group.
