Kenosha, Wisconsin-based death metal group Jungle Rot have filmed a music video for the track ‘A Burning Cinder’. Directed by Dustin Smith, the clip can be viewed below.
Frontman Dave Matrise commented: “I call this a ‘Frankenstein’ creation, it has all the elements needed for a good metal song – groove, thrash, speed and killer lyrics. It is one of my favourites in our catalogue and I wanted to expand about the government trying to control, manipulate and force feed citizens into what we should believe in or not. It goes over really well live and we can’t wait to continue playing it on the next tour.”
Jungle Rot issued their self-titled tenth full-length studio album on July 20th, 2018 through Victory Records.
In January 2018, Jungle Rot entered Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin with engineeer Chris Djuricic. Lending guest vocals to the track ‘Fearmonger’ is Destruction frontman Marcel “Schmier” Schirmer.
“We covered the Destruction classic ‘Invincible Force’ some years ago (from Destruction’s May 1985 debut Infernal Overkill) and Schmier told me ours is his favourite Destruction cover he has ever heard from any band,” recalled Matrise. “Years later, we toured together and right away, Schmier approached me to start singing the song with him in concert. His trademark style and my vocals worked so well together that when I began writing this new record, the idea immediately came up to have him as a guest vocalist. He loved it and was honoured to be a part of it. That’s how we created ‘Fearmonger’.”
‘Glory For The Fallen’ was written for a close friend of Matrise, named Jeff, who was murdered in 2017. “I definitely needed to put something on the album for my fallen brother, and another track directed at the cowardly scumbag who took his young life, which is ‘Pumped Full Of Lead’,” said the singer. “I’ve had a lot of pain to write with, so that is my message – life is pain.”
Rounding out the effort is a cover interpretation of ‘Terrible Certainty’. Written by Kreator, its original rendition was included on the September 1987 album of the same name. “I love this song and it’s one I’ve always wanted to cover”, revealed Matrise. “I remember seeing them for the first time, saying to myself I want to start a band.”
Mixing and mastering was handled by Dan Swanö.
Cover artwork duties fell to Gyula Havancsak.
