JONATHAN DAVIS: KORN Frontman Premieres ‘Basic Needs’ Music Video
October 31st, 2018

Jonathan Davis, frontman of Bakersfield, California-based nu-metal group Korn, has filmed a music video for the track ‘Basic Needs’. Directed and edited by Stephen Steelman, the clip can be viewed below.

Davis commented: “‘Basic Needs’ is essentially as close as I get to writing a love song. It also gave me a chance to explore different instruments and styles of world music, and step outside of what may be considered ‘the norm’. The two other videos I’ve released for this record have been telling a story in reverse. This video continues that pattern.”

Jonathan Davis issued debut solo full-length studio album Black Labyrinth on May 25th, 2018 through Sumerian Records.

The outing was inspired in part by the Ganzfeld Experiment, and the out-of-body experiments and hallucinations that often accompany it. Davis focused on religion, consumerism and apathy throughout Black Labyrinth.

“There’s a level of enlightenment I want to achieve,” he confessed regarding Black Labyrinth. “With all of the bullshit going, everyone is stuck on their fucking cell phones. This takes us way out of that. No matter how hard you try to fight bad things in your life, life will be what it is. It’s up to you to accept that, combat it, and move forward, or it’s up to you to be in denial. Then it becomes a thorn in your side until you finally deal with it. This is it. Just deal with it.”

The track listing is as follows;

01. ‘Underneath My Skin’
02. ‘Final Days’
03. ‘Everyone’
04. ‘Happiness’
05. ‘Your God’
06. ‘Walk On By’
07. ‘The Secret’
08. ‘Basic Needs’
09. ‘Medicate’
10. ‘Please Tell Me’
11. ‘What You Believe’
12. ‘Gender’
13. ‘What It Is’

Music videos were also filmed for the tracks ‘Everyone’ and ‘What It Is’. Both clips can be viewed below. ‘What It Is’ was featured on the official soundtrack to 2017 thriller American Satan.
