Norrtälje, Sweden-based Viking metal group Månegarm have released an official lyric video for the track ‘Ett sista farväl’. Created by Tobias Rydsheim (Svartna Film), the clip can be viewed below.
The band commented: “‘Ett sista farväl’ (‘A Final Farewell’) is based on Völsungasagan (Völsunga saga) and the love story between Helge Hundigsbane and his wife Sigrun. Helge is assassinated by Odin’s lent spear and travels to Valhalla, but for one single night he returns to his tomb and the realm of the living. Bloody, and with frost in his hair, he meets his wife and they spend one last night together. At dawn Helge must return to Valhalla and once again leave Sigrun who a short time thereafter dies of grief and sorrow.
“The lyric video is made by Tobias Rydsheim at Svartna Film and we hope you all will enjoy this beautiful and epic track and the story that is told.”
Månegarm issue ninth full-length studio album Fornaldarsagor on April 26th, 2019 through Napalm Records.
Included as a bonus track on digital and CD deluxe box editions of Fornaldarsagor is a cover rendition of ‘(Don’t Need) Religion’. Written by Motörhead, its original version featured on April 1982’s Iron Fist. Rounding out the bonus tracks on said version is ‘Day Star, Son Of Dawn’, a re-recording of a composition originally laid down in 1995.
