Oslo, Norway-based black metal band Order have made the track ‘Torquemada’ available for streaming through YouTube, which can be accessed below.
The band issued the following statement: “From our upcoming album Lex Amentiae, here is ‘Torquemada’! The song ‘Torquemada’ is written to remind people that religious motivated crimes against humanity is nothing new. Organized religion has during all ages exploited people’s fears and intolerance, ignorance and incapacity. The teachings of intolerance and ignorance is something that becomes the religious. The fear of knowledge, banning anything that threatens the dogma that legitimize their right to power leads to all kinds of atrocities.
“Tomás de Torquemada, the first grand inquisitor in Spain’s movement to homogenize religious practices with those of the Catholic Church in the late 15th century is a symbol of how bad things can turn if you let the religious into organized power. ‘The echo’ of Torquemada’s name can still be heard, and ‘the echo of his crimes’ is still seen around our world today. Abrahams legacy is foul and condemnable.”
Order issue debut full-length studio album Lex Amentia on July 28th, 2017 through Listenable Records.
Drummer Mannheim commented: “The album title Lex Amentiae translates to ‘The law of insanity’ and refers to how the world today is affected by people who set belief above facts, who doesn’t care about, and even despise knowledge and who elect insane authoritarian leaders who either are blinded by religious faith or ideology or are just straight forward fascists.
“The layers of symbolism in the cover art represents the wholeness and everything, physically and metaphorically. In the center of it all you see man. The creatures entwined in the symbolism represent the poison that affect so many peoples today, towered by a demon to represent the destructive poison of them all, religion.”
