PAGAN ALTAR Vocalist Terry Jones Dies Aged 69

Terry Jones, vocalist for London, England-based doom metal group Pagan Altar, died on May 15th, 2015 at the age of 69 following a battle with lung cancer.
Pagan Altar issued the following statement on their official Facebook page: “It’s is with great sadness to announce that Terry Jones of Pagan Altar finally lost his extremely brave battle with cancer this morning 15th May at 10:15am. Terry has been fighting this for the past year with me Lynn and his family always by his side.
“You all know how much he loved performing and especially to all the wonderful Pagan Altar fans he had a pleasure too meet. We are all devastated by his loss and will miss him more then words can say. And would like to thank you for your loyal support and love all these years.
“Always love you Terry… The Time Lord is on his Travels.”
In a separate statement, Pagan Altar bassist William Gallagher said: “I have so enjoyed the great times in the studio composing and performing music, travelling the world and being his friend.
“Terry, you have been the greatest inspiration in my life and I’m going to miss you so very much. I will never ever forget you and will always hold my memories of you dear to my heart. I will forever be your bass player and we will perform again together one day in the afterlife in the sky. Goodbye my friend.”
Pagan Altar initially existed from 1978 until 1985, reforming in 2004. Vocalist for Pagan Altar for all of those tenures, Jones lent his vocals to five full-lengths in all; Volume I (1998), Lords Of Hypocrisy (2004), Judgement Of The Dead (2005), Mythical & Magical (2006), and the posthumously released The Room Of Shadows (2017).
A funeral service for Terry Jones was held on June 12th, 2015 at Medway Crematorium in Blue Bell Hill, Kent, England.
