RUÏM Issue Lyric Video For New Track ‘The Triumph (Of Night & Fire)’

Norwegian black metal project Ruïm have released an official lyric video for the track ‘The Triumph (Of Night & Fire)’. Created by Matthew Vickerstaff, the clip can be viewed below.
Speaking about ‘The Triumph (Of Night & Fire)’, Ruïm mastermind Rune Eriksen said: “The song represents some sorts of a nexus, a binding energy or a red line that runs through the album thematically. Not only from a lyrical point of view with its spiritual ‘battle cry’ of sorts, but also from a musical standpoint. The cleaner, eerie passages mixed with the chaos-like elements, vivid time changes and brute power all serve as junctions to the dedication and passion that sums up this album as a whole.”
Ruïm issue debut full-length studio album Black Royal Spiritism – I.O Sino da Igreja on May 26th, 2023 through Peaceville Records.
Ruïm was formed in 2020 by former Mayhem guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen, inspired by the rediscovery of a long lost tape of old, unused Mayhem-era riffs from 1998-99. “Forged over two years of lockdown and global panic, the result is a vicious and pitch black take on the genre I started my career in back in the mid 90s,” Eriksen commented. “With hints to some of my past works as well as a leap into the unexplored, this conceptual offering is not only a personal journey, but also a celebration and a dedication to the linha da esquerda… and everything therein.”
Black Royal Spiritism – I.O Sino da Igreja marks the beginning of a concept set to span a trilogy of releases exploring Eriksen’s own beliefs in terms of the Umbanda tradition, the album also immersed in Brazilian witchcraft.
Recording sessions took place at Drudenhaus Studio in France, while mastering was handled by Jack Control at Enormous Door in Austin, Texas.
Eriksen handled guitars, bass and vocals, the vocals sung in a mix of English, Portuguese and Norwegian, with lyrical themes rooted in a celebration and dedication to the lore and rituals of linha da esquerda.
