Swedish progressive melodic death metal band Scar Symmetry issued sixth studio full-length album The Singularity (Phase I: Neohumanity) on October 3rd, 2014 in Europe through Nuclear Blast Records. The label scheduled North American release for the 14th.
The album formed part of a planned science fiction concept album trilogy, entitled The Singularity.
Guitarist Per Nilsson commented: “The lyrical concept that Henrik (Ohlsson, drums) came up with for The Singularity trilogy is huge in scope, complex and awe-inspiring, and naturally the music I wrote needed to follow suit – and it is with great pride that we can now present Phase I – Neohumanity, the first part in the most progressive and elaborate project in the history of Scar Symmetry. What an awesome way of celebrating our 10th anniversary!”
The Singularity (Phase I: Neohumanity) was recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio Kabyss in Gävle, Sweden.
Drums were recorded at Studio Overlook, also in Gävle.
Cover artwork was designed by Mnemic guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, who had been commissioned to design cover artworks for the entire trilogy.

“‘Limits To Infinity’ unveils the malevolent plan of the elite, the hidden hand, and their discoveries regarding the secrets of the universe,” added drummer and lyricist Henrik Ohlsson. “The lyric elaborates on the decision makers’ long-term plan to merge with machines and colonise other planets.”
In addition, an official lyric video was created for the track ‘Cryonic Harvest’.
