SWALLOW THE SUN Release Seventh Studio Album ‘When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light’

Jyväskylä, Finland-based death / doom metal group Swallow The Sun issued seventh full-length studio album When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light on January 25th, 2019 through Century Media Records.

When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light is fuelled by personal loss (the album title has its origins in Trees Of Eternity’s ‘Broken Mirror’ track, from lone November 2016 full-length Hour Of The Nightingale – guitarist Juha Raivio having been a member of the now defunct assortment with his late partner and vocalist Aleah Starbridge, who passed away on April 18th, 2016) and “powered by the will to continue,” according to a press release.

Raivio commented: “Every word and note I wrote, I wrote for Aleah and about my own battle since she passed. The album title, When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light, comes from Aleah’s own words, ‘When a shadow is forced into the light.’ That was exactly what I needed to do. To push myself out from the shadows. I’ve been pretty much a hermit in the woods for two and a half years. Gathering my life to write this album. That’s also why the subject is very personal and therefore hard for me to talk about. I’d rather leave it all to the music and words on When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light to tell the story. It’s all there.”

When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light was mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, while mastering duties fell to Tony Lindgren, also at Fascination Street Studios.
