THE RESISTANCE Part Ways With Guitarist Jesper Strömblad
March 2nd, 2016
Gothenburg, Sweden-based metal group The Resistance have parted ways with guitarist Jesper Strömblad (ex-In Flames) following a five-year tenure, revealing this development on March 1st, 2016.
The Resistance issued the following statement: “It’s been a long time coming with a lots of ups and downs regarding Jesper and his struggle with depression. We all thought we could ride out this storm but sometimes all things has to come to an end. We part ways on friendly terms and don’t want any bad blood run under the bridge. We’ve written and re-written this countless times and there’s just not a good way to put it… Jesper is no longer going to be in the band with us. To be honest, this has been really painful. After taking time to consider how to move forward, we ultimately found that we really do believe The Resistance can and should continue on. And so we will.
“We’re really thankful for the people who have helped see us through hard times before and what we’ve discovered is that those people are just as much a part of this as we will ever be. We’re hopeful for The Resistance’s future and we’re also excited for what Jesper’s going to do next. Thank you all for your support and your belief in us. It’s kept us going. We will see some of you really soon we hope. Until then spread the good old violent fun!”
Guitarist since their 2011 inception, Strömblad lent his services to The Resistance’s initial two full-lengths in Scars (May 2013) and Coup de Grâce (January 2016), as well as the EPs Rise From Treason (January 2013) and Torture Tactics (February 2015).
