Belgian black metal band Wiegedood have released a visualizer video for the track ‘Carousel’. Filmed by Filip Brans, the clip can be viewed below.
“One riff descending round and round into the abyss like a sputtering carousel. Pulling and pushing downwards at the same time,” commented Wiegedood.
Wiegedood issue fourth full-length studio album There’s Always Blood At The End Of The Road on January 14th, 2022 through Century Media Records.
“There’s Always Blood At The End Of The Road focuses on the filthiest and most disgusting parts of human nature and society,” commented Wiegedood. “It steers clear from the typical black metal themes and concepts, instead zoning in on the struggle we lead within, trying to overcome the fact we are all made from that same filth. Exploring places the previous trilogy didn’t even scratch the surface of, both lyrically and musically. A first-hand look into pure disgust, a psychotic ride with synths, tape-recorders, hot club jazz and distressing samples. A definite switch from our previous work, a dark turn into something unexpected and unwelcome.”
The track listing is as follows;
|
01. ‘FN SCAR 16’
02. ‘And In Old Salamano’s Room, The Dog Whimpered Softly’
03. ‘Noblesse Oblige / Richesse Oblige’
04. ‘Until It Is Not’
05. ‘Now Will Always Be’
06. ‘Wade’
07. ‘Nuages’
08. ‘Theft And Begging’
09. ‘Carousel’
Wiegedood’s line-up is as follows:
Levy Seynaeve (vocals and guitars)
Gilles Demolder (guitars)
Wim Coppers (drums)
Directed by Jonas Hollevoet, a music video was filmed for the track ‘Nuages’. “A black metal homage to Django Reinhardt,” said Wiegedood in describing the track. “So chaotic and dissonant that the man himself would have hated it for sure.”
Created by Jaak De Digitale, a music video was also released for the song ‘FN SCAR 16’.
“The SCAR (Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle) is a family of gas-operated (short-stroke gas piston) automatic rifles developed by Belgian manufacturer FN Herstal (FN) in 2004,” Weigedood explained. “This family of rifles consist of two main types. The SCAR-L, for ‘light’, is chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge and the SCAR-H, for ‘heavy’, is chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO. Both are available in Close Quarters Combat (CQC), Standard (STD), and Long Barrel (LB) variants.”
In addition, an official visualizer video was created for the track ‘Now Will Always Be’. “A seemingly never-ending mantra dedicated to the now,” shared Wiegedood. “A hypnotic drone that evolves into a melodic opus.”
Third studio record De doden hebben het goed III was released in April 2018 via Century Media.
